軽井沢千住博博物館 Hiroshi Senju Museum Karuizawa

軽井沢に、2013年にオープンした美術館。今年の9月に訪れた。

千住博の20代から現在までの作品が展示され、その画風の流れを追うことができる。

ヴェネツィアビエンナーレで受賞し、千住博を世界的に有名にしたウォーターホールも、館内の奥まった特別スペースに展示されている。

暗い室内には、まさに滝壺のように、下に薄く水が敷かれている、という凝った演出も。

千住博のファンにとっては、その作品世界を堪能できて楽しめるが、この美術館は、何と言ってもその建物に尽きる。

千住博という画家に、全く関心がないという人間でも、この建物を体験するためだけに、この美術館を訪れる価値がある。

設計したのは、西沢立衛。建築家集団SANAAのメンバーでもあり、世界中で数々の個性的な建築を作り上げている。

この美術館は、ゆっくりしとしたスロープに建てられており、壁は透明のアクリルのようなもので作られている。

周りから光が入り込み、周りの景色も見えるので、一瞬、部屋の中にいるということを忘れてしまう。

そうした雰囲気が、自然を描くことが多い千住博の作品の魅力を、より引き立てているようだ。
